Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Biscuits are not in my normal “repertoire” of what I cook, BUT I had 80% of a 500g container of buttermilk leftover from making this, and I didn’t want it to go to waste. When I think of buttermilk, I think of biscuits, so I decided to give it a try. My only dilemma was using up the last of my four blocks of cheddar (not readily available in Germany).

Unable to find a recipe in any of my cookbooks, I ended up using this one from Epicurious. I was really pleased with how they turned out. They easier to make than I thought they’d be. I followed the recipe fairly exactly, except I ran out of cheddar and threw in a little Gouda as well. I also added dill because I thought it would augment the taste (and it also makes them look better too). I would make these again, although I will have to wait to get a hold of more cheddar cheese.

Weirdest garlic ever -- and each one of those pieces broke down into more tiny cloves.
Biscuits!
