Having access to fresh, wild blueberries is still a novelty to me, having lived in cities for most of the last 8 years. Two weekends ago, I picked several cups of blueberries in Sandy Cove. I decided to make these blueberry muffins with some of them.
This was definitely the best batch of muffins I’ve made in a while, possibly ever. Their consistency was much more ‘cakelike’ than I expected, but that was not a bad thing. I made them without the crumble top — not on purpose, but because I ran out of flour. I did not miss the topping — they were still good without. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. These will become my ‘go to’ blueberry muffins unless I find a better one.
