I didn’t have a chance to post anything for August, so here is a longer-than-usual list for September:
—Amazing video of swimming, smiling dolphins. They look so happy!
—Read three good books in a row recently: Keith Richards’ Life (one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’d go so far to say that even if you don’t like the Rolling Stones, you should read this!); Tana French’s Broken Harbour (the first I’d read from her, and like one review I read said — paraphrasing — “if Tana French wrote an obituary I’d read it”. Almost literary crime fiction, and I’ll definitely be reading more of her books.); and Skios, by Michael Frayn (very unlike any type of book I usually read – almost like reading a sitcom episode – but very funny).
—Useful kitchen tips from Julia Child.
—How to make natural room scents.
—Lovely article about August at an Italian villa. My favourite line is “Pretty much anyone with an opinion and an appetite is welcome.”
—LOVE these rules for autumn.
—Ottolenghi has a new book out. Another one to add to the list!
—The (bare) basics to pairing food and wine.
—Publishing: Books out this month. Some big names.
—And finally, a few fall recipes I’m eager to try out soon (once I get into my own kitchen!): roasted tomato and eggplant soup from Martha Stewart; lemongrass cilantro chicken from Rasa Malaysia; carrot & apple loaf from The Best Remedy; spicy black bean soup from Dinner or Dessert.
