Cannellini Bean & Garlic Soup

If the title of this post doesn’t draw you in immediately, don’t worry — you’re not alone! I first saw the recipe in Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s column in a Saturday Guardian magazine, thinking to myself that it looked like a perfectly fine, pantry soup to quickly throw together on a week night. I was wrong. This soup was disappointing. It was on the bland side but more than anything I didn’t like its texture — mushy, gluey, chalky.

I didn’t use as top quality ingredients as Hugh did, and that was most likely the downfall. I thought I could cheat a bit with this one but it didn’t work out. Better luck next time!

    Nice presentation though 🙂 The broad bean and lettuce soup in his article sounds good as well.
